Steering Gears,

Rolls-Royce & Kongsberg:

VTMS offers maintenance services from steering gears in the following scope of work:

•      General overhaul, 
•      Emergency repair,
•      Inspection,
•      Spare parts verification,

The service could be done during the dry docking period and emergency repairs in port but it depends on type of steering gear.

Overhaul:
- Disassembly of main cover.
- Disassembly of rotor from the steering gear.
- Replacement of seals.
- Replacement of bearings.
- Modifications.
- Rotor assembly.
- Alignment between the steering gear and  rudder stock.
- Repair of hydraulic motor (Power Pack)  and hydraulic valves.
- Hydraulic system adjustment.
- Adjustment actuator.
- Test of steering gear.

Inspection:
- Hydraulic system test.
- Internal leak test.
- Thrust bearing clearance verifaction.
- Movement  test.

The scope of work to be agreed with Shipowner.

The work carried out is supported by a professional service report, which contains key descriptions and technical specifications.
